A federal grand jury indicted five men who allegedly sold counterfeit goods of high-end designers around Baltimore. These goods included luxury watches, purses, shoes and hats. The items bore trademarks from luxury manufacturers such as Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana and Louis Vuitton.

Agents with the U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations raided the flea market in Southwest Baltimore, where vendors sold counterfeit and pirated luxury watches and other goods with the market owner's knowledge. For two and a half years undercover agents rented a booth at the market and kept buying counterfeit goods from vendors there. During the raid, federal agents confiscated items being sold at the sprawling market.

Most popular makes of luxury watches have their designs copied by manufacturers of replica watches which sell from as little as US$10 to several hundred dollars. They vary from generic look-alike to exacting reproductions of the exteriors of the genuine watch. Often, even details such as the manufacturer's logo, serial numbers, and other markings are reproduced. However, possessing such a watch is not illegal. But the maker and sellers of the replicas are in violation of the legal copyrights and trademarks.

The high value of luxury watches and the desire to own one, has led to an explosion of fake luxury watches flooding the market. The sellers of these fake luxury watches are not just on the streets but are also selling them online. The brands, models and prices are enough to attract anyone.
